Description
Aim: “Basic Life Support for healthcare providers” is a training program designed to teach healthcare professionals the essential skills and knowledge needed to provide basic life support in emergency situations.
Requirements: Students should be physically well enough to carry out chest compression on a manikin while kneeling. If a learner has any conditions which may affect their ability to complete a practical assessments they should notify the training provider prior to commencement of the course.
Who’s it for: The Basic Life Support provider course is intended for health care professionals who provide care to patients in-hospital or out of hospital settings. Like; Physicians, Medical Students, General Practitioners, General and Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Managers and Staff Nurses, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Dentists, Respiratory Therapists, Cardiac Technicians, Cardiac Rehabilitation Staff, Physiotherapists, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Nursing Students, Care Assistants and other Allied Healthcare Personnel.
Overview of modules:
Adult Child and Infant CPR and Use of AED:
- Critical Concepts and Chain of Survival
- 1-Rescuer CPR and AED and 2-Rescuer CPR and AED
- Bag-mask Techniques
- Rescue Breathing
- Relief of Choking
- CPR with an Advanced Airway.
- Theory and practical assessment and evaluation
Method of Delivery & Duration: The course is facilitated by an instructor who will use a DVD to guide you through the course. The course is delivered in English. The course is between 3 – 5 hours long depending on the number of students on the course.
Assessment: Students will be assessed on a practical scenario and 25 multiple choice questions.
Certification: Upon successful completion of this course students will be issued with an Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association certificate via Email. This cert will be valid for 2 years. This course is certified by both the Irish Heart Foundation & American Heart Association it is recognised internationally.
Renewal: You are required to renew this course every 2 years.
