Description


Aim: Cardiac First Response Community’(CFR-C) is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to respond to cardiac emergencies in their community. Along with CPR-AED skills, this course teach people how to recognise heart attack and stroke symptoms and to access emergency care without delay.

 

Requirement: Individuals should be physically fit enough to carry out chest compression on a manikin while kneeling. If a learner has an impairment which may affect their ability to complete a practical assessments they should notify training provider prior to commencement of the course to discuss options.

 

Who’s it for: This program is suitable for individuals who want to learn how to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies in their workplace or community, including first responders, security personnel, teachers, and community members.By taking part in this course, will also enable learners to become a Community First Responder, or CFR member. A member of CFR Group will respond to calls from National Ambulance Service within the community for patients who display symptoms of Chest Pain, Choking, Stroke and Cardiac Arrest.

  • CPR for children, Infants and adults
  • Use of Face Mask
  • Safe and effective use of AED
  • Choking: Adult, Child, &Infant
  • Team resuscitation
  • Stroke assessment (FAST Assessment)
  • Heart attack and the administration of aspirin
  • Patient Handover and CFR report
  • Infection Control
  • Post event issues (critical incident stress awareness and debrief)
  • Skill group practice

 

Delivery  & duration: This course is facilitated by an instructor trained by PHECC/ Irish Heart Foundation and is DVD lead. The DVD is endorsed by PHECC, IHF and AHA. The course duration is 4 hours

 

Assessment & Certification:  Assessment is completely skills Based using PHECC’s CFR Community assessment sheet. Successful completion of the CFR course leads to certification by the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) which is valid for 2years.

Renewal: You are required to renew this course every 2 years.
